Tips for Landing a High-Paying Remote Job

Plan your strategy from the outset to help increase your chances of landing a remote job that’s a good fit for you.

Emphasize your past remote work experience.

Don’t be shy about touting any experience you have working remotely, even on a temporary or part-time basis. Make sure your resume highlights remote work you’ve done in the past, and make sure to expand on your remote experience in any job interview discussions.

Talk about how you’re at ease in a remote work environment, your abilities to work independently from a home setting, and your productivity levels in any past remote jobs.

If you don’t have past remote work experience, play up your technical skill that would facilitate working from home, your well-equipped home work space, and your time-management skills.

Gear up for remote job interview questions.

Be prepared to answer basic remote job interview questions that may touch on:

  • Why you want to work remotely.
  • How any previous remote experience relates to the job at hand.
  • How your communications skills are relevant and useful.
  • What kind of remote schedule you’d like to have.
