20 Best Remote Jobs Websites in 2020

Freelancing? Struggling with where to find WordPress jobs to start working with the world’s most popular CMS? Finding a good job can be harder than the work itself! Especially when you’re looking for something niche-specific like WordPress.

Don’t worry, though, we’re here to help. In the following sections, I’ll give you 20 different places where you can find remote jobs (as well as location-specific jobs if that’s your flavor).

You’ll be able to find full-time, part-time, and freelance gigs – and for each job source, I’ll mark the types of jobs that you’ll find there.

20 Best Remote Jobs Websites in 2020

Then, near the end of the post, I’ll give you five different WordPress companies that are hiring right this second. Let’s dig in and get you hired…

where to find WordPress jobs

A note before getting started

Before I get into the list, I want to lead with a little caveat for this post.

Because employers naturally want to get their job posting in front of as many qualified eyeballs as possible, you’re going to find some overlap in jobs between different sources. That’s just the nature of the game.

I’ll try to avoid posting sites with 100% identical lists of WordPress jobs, but you’ll definitely run into the occasional job posting located on multiple sources.

With that out of the way, let’s get to the jobs!

Where to find WordPress jobs – full-time, freelance + more

All of these sources offer remote WordPress jobs, though many also offer location-specific jobs as well.

As I mentioned, I’ll also indicate what types of jobs you’re likely to find for each source. That is, whether the jobs are #full-time#part-time#freelance, or a mix (the normal situation).

1. Codeable

Job Types: #freelance jobs

Codeable is an exclusive marketplace for WordPress freelancers. They don’t accept anyone, but if you have the chops to get approved, you’ll be able to peruse a variety of freelance jobs that pay a minimum of $60 per hour.

Nathan Ello is a good example of a WordPress freelancer who uses Codeable successfully. If you’re interested, you can read his blog for some insights on WordPress freelancing and Codeable.

Authentic Jobs

2. Authentic Jobs

Job Types: Mostly #full-time or #remote, but can also filter by #freelance and #part-time

Authentic Jobs is a job board for designers, developers, and creative pros. You can find WordPress jobs by simply searching for the keyword “WordPress”. Another neat feature of Authentic Jobs is the ability to quickly toggle between All Jobs and Remote Jobs with the click of a button. You can also add filters for job type, skills, experience level, compensation, and more.

Quick tip: Alerts are also something to consider; search for WordPress, toggle remote, and trigger an email alert whenever new jobs come in.

If you’re interested in hiring WordPress developers, use the promo code CODEINWP10 at the checkout and get 10% off.

Toptal freelance marketplace

3. Toptal

Job Types: #freelance gigs

Toptal bills itself as a freelancing site for the “top 3% of freelance talent”. If you want to view jobs on the site, you’ll need to apply and be accepted. As a result, you’ll find better paying jobs than some of the other freelance marketplaces I’ll list out later on in this post.

Find WordPress jobs at Remote OK

4. Remote OK Job Board

Job Types: Mostly #full-time #remote WordPress jobs

Remote OK is an offshoot of the popular remote working site Nomad List. It lists exclusively remote jobs, so there’s no need to sort between location-based and remote jobs.

The selection isn’t huge, but by searching for “WordPress”, you can quickly narrow down to all of the available remote WordPress jobs.

At the time that I wrote this post, there were four active WordPress job listings.

Jobs.WordPress.net

5. Jobs.WordPress.net

Job Types: A solid mix between #full-time#part-time, and #project-based jobs

Jobs.WordPress.net is a part of the WordPress family of sites (you’ll even find it in the WordPress.org footer). Because it’s where a variety of people outsource WordPress work, it includes all types of WordPress jobs, spanning everything from design to development, minor tweaks, and writing.

Some jobs are location-specific – so make sure that you check the Location column before you get too excited about a job.

Post Status WordPress Jobs Board

6. Post Status Job Board

Job Types: Both #full-time and #part-time jobs

Post Status Job Board is the job-focused page from Post Status, a popular site for WordPress professionals.

It doesn’t have a ton of jobs. But every single job on the page is specifically about WordPress. Again, just make sure that you look for the Remote tag because some of the jobs are location-specific.

smashingmagazine

7. Smashing Jobs

Job Types: Both #full-time and #freelance jobs – though most listings are full-time

Smashing Jobs is, as the name suggests, Smashing Magazine’s job board. It includes jobs for all types of web designs and developers, but you can find WordPress jobs by using the search box.

You can also filter by full-time and freelance job types. Again, just make sure that the job supports remote work, though. Not all of the job postings do.

WPHired dedicated exclusively to WordPress jobs

8. WPhired

Job Types: Mostly #full-time, but includes some #freelance and #part-time jobs

As you can guess from the name, WPhired focuses exclusively on WordPress jobs. The site seems to force job posters to choose a location, but if you read the job descriptions you’ll realize that plenty of them allow remote work.

WPMU Dev Job Board

9. WPMU DEV Job Board

Job Types: Primarily one-off #freelance gigs

The WPMU DEV Job Board isn’t as active as it once was, but you can still find a small selection of freelance WordPress jobs there.

When I wrote this post, there were four different postings for one-off WordPress gigs.

startupjobs.asia

11. StartUp Jobs Asia

Job Types: Most listings are #full-time, but also includes #part-time and #freelance jobs

Though most of the WordPress jobs on this site are in Asia (as you might expect from the name), you can also find remote WordPress jobs on the site. So whether you’re looking to find WordPress jobs in Singapore, Malaysia, or “Anywhere”, you can peruse plenty of options at StartUp Jobs Asia.

AngelList

12. AngelList Jobs

Job Types: Mostly #full-time jobs

AngelList collects jobs from startups around the world, many of which allow remote work. While the jobs aren’t WordPress specific, you can filter by keywords, roles, pay, equity, and more to find WordPress jobs that perfectly match your criteria.

In fact, the detail of the filters offered by AngelList is one of the things that differentiates it from other job sites, in my opinion. You will need to register an account and fill out your profile in order to view jobs, though.

We Work Remotely

13. We Work Remotely

Job Types: Mostly #full-time #remote jobs

Unsurprisingly, We Work Remotely focuses exclusively on remote jobs. Because all jobs are remote, all you need to do is search for “WordPress” to bring up a solid selection of jobs.

At the time of writing this post, there were about 6 WordPress-related remote jobs, which is pretty solid as far as remote work sites go.

upwork

14. Upwork

Job Types: One-off #freelance gigs

I don’t relish posting Upwork because so many of the job postings quickly become a race to the bottom when it comes to price.

But here’s one thing that I can’t deny about Upwork:

There are tons of WordPress jobs to be found.

At the time of writing this post, my search for “WordPress” turned up over 8,500 different jobs. Most of those probably aren’t viable opportunities, but with a sample size of over 8,500 different jobs, you can definitely turn up something.

krop

15. Krop

Job Types: Mostly #full-time jobs, though there are some #contract postings

Krop is a design board built specifically for “creative, design, and tech jobs.” Many of the jobs are on-site, but if you click through to the individual job descriptions you can find some remote jobs.

I’m including Krop because it has a number of quality WordPress job postings, though the lack of a filter for remote work is frustrating.

Freelancer.com marketplace

16. Freelancer

Job Types: As the name suggests, these are primarily one-off #freelance gigs

Like Upwork, Freelancer is a mixed bag when it comes to job quality…but it does have tons of jobs to choose from. Actually, 243,161 WordPress projects had been completed on Freelancer.com as of January 2015 (total value of $60,571,205) – data says.

At the time of writing this post, Freelancer has over 2,400 different WordPress gigs that you can peruse.

If you can sift through the often low paying jobs, you’ll find work ranging from installing WordPress to developing plugins and lots more.

FlexJobs

17. Flexjobs

Job Types: Mostly #full-time, but also includes #part-time work

Flexjobs is a large general job site with a specific focus on telecommuting jobs. A search for WordPress returns an impressive 279 postings. Part of that is because Flexjobs is a bit less curated than some of the more aggressively filtered sites like Remote OK and We Work Remotely.

Still, if you just want a big dump of remote WordPress jobs and are willing to wade through some duds, then Flexjobs gives you a good amount of choice.

Jobspresso

18. Jobspresso

Job Types: Mostly #full-time, but can also filter by #part-time and #freelance

Jobspresso is a well-designed job listing site focused specifically on remote work. You can search by keyword and also filter by industry to find WordPress jobs.

Similarly, you can also use filters to choose between full-time, part-time, and freelance work.

At the time of writing this post, a search for WordPress development jobs returned 11 different jobs.

Craigslist

19. Craigslist / Telecommuter Jobs

Job Types: Mostly #full-time or #part-time in my searches, but YMMV.

Bear with me here…

Yes, I know that Craigslist doesn’t always have the best reputation when it comes to jobs. And yes, you will have to sort through a bunch of garbage. But…if none of the other options have worked, you can actually find WordPress jobs on Craigslist.

I played around with a few cities that I’ve lived in and the ratio of “promising job” to “garbage” was about 1:9…which again is not great.

To add some helpful filtering, though, you can use Telecommuter Jobs to filter Craigslist results specifically for remote opportunities.

onthegosystems

20. OnTheGoSystems

Job Types: #full-time

The team behind two of the most popular WordPress plugins, Toolset and WPML, is always looking for contributors to the WordPress ecosystem.

Join the 90 people working together around the world on plugins that are currently used by more than 700,000 websites. Check out their full-time job openings and apply if you want to experience the multi-cultural environment at OnTheGoSystems.

remotejobsclub

21. Remote Jobs Club

Job Types: #full-time #remote #international

Remote Jobs Club is a weekly newsletter that sends hand-picked and manually verified remote jobs. If you are tired of checking dozens of remote job boards, I highly recommend signing up to their newsletter no matter what industry you are in.

22. Your Own Website

Job Types: Whatever you want!

Ok, this one is a little cute. But the fact remains that one of the best places to find quality WordPress work is via your own website.

You’ll find plenty of WordPress freelancers who find work through their own websites.

If you’re looking for some examples, here are a couple of portfolio sites from successful WordPress freelancers:

  • Bill Erickson
  • Nathan Swartz

You won’t be able to throw up a portfolio site and start getting jobs right away. But as a successful freelance writer, I can say from firsthand experience that a solid portfolio site is a great long term investment to find WordPress jobs.

You can even automate parts of your business to save time on the leads generated from your site.
