Future Jobs: 10 skills that will be in demand in 2020
1. Complex problem solving
# Future Jobs. This means that a person is able to see the essence of the problems and deal with the cause, not the effect. Suppose a lady comes to a doctor and says: “I want to lose weight.” And such a doctor scratched his head and said: “Well, stop eating sweets.”
And there, in fact, the problem is not at all sweet, but in the endocrine system, daily routine, psychological problems in the family, and so on. In general, the whole complex. So, those specialists who will have a systematic, holistic approach to solving any problems will be most in demand, they will know what else to look for besides the most obvious.
2. Critical thinking
#Future Jobs. This is a way of thinking in which a person questions the incoming information and even his own beliefs. This is a very useful skill, because the question, “Maybe everything does not work at all as we expect?” helps development.
#Future Jobs. From my point of view, creativity is the ability to see that which is not yet. When Michelangelo was asked how he created the statue of David, the sculptor replied: “I saw an angel in a piece of marble, and I wanted to free him.”
4. People management
Future Jobs. Michael Jordan said a brilliant phrase: “Talent will win the game, and the team – the championships.” Managing people is a complex science about how leaders make major decisions … no, not just about subordinates, but about People.
How to motivate employees so that they skip to work, and not from work? How not to make a mistake in a person, taking him to work, but to raise those who deserve it? How to resolve conflicts within the team? To know the answers to all these questions means to own people management.
5. Coordinating with others
This is perhaps understandable.
6. Emotional intelligence
Future Jobs. In 1995, American psychologist Daniel Goleman published the book Emotional Intelligence, which blew up the book market and became a bestseller (although in fact the theory of EI appeared much earlier).
Now, emotional intelligence refers to the ability to understand the emotions, intentions and motivation of other people and their own, as well as the ability to manage their emotions and the emotions of other people.
7. Judgment and decision-making
We will not dwell on this either – everything is clear here.
8. Service orientation
Future Jobs. Judging by the forecasts, the service sector in the world will only grow, and good service is always worth its weight in gold. Unfortunately, service in Russia is easiest to describe with such an anecdote: “One lady asks another: – Oh, and where did you get this makeup? “There in that store.” – A lot of people? “Yes, there is nobody, even the consultant went out somewhere.”
9. Negotiation skills
This is understandable, right?
10. Cognitive flexibility
Future Jobs. Cognitive flexibility is the ability of the mind to quickly switch from one thought to another, as well as ponder several things at once. By the way, you can test yourself for cognitive flexibility using the famous Stroop test. He is very simple.
I see that 5 out of 10 skills relate to the ability to communicate with people, negotiate and manage them, understand and serve them (this is human resources management, interacting with people, negotiating, customer focus, emotional intelligence).
4 more spheres out of 10 are related to brain abilities: the ability to quickly think, see the essence, find a solution to problems, generate new projects and ideas (complex problem solving, creativity, cognitive flexibility, critical thinking).
If you do not know what to study, then study people and their needs, and also train your brain for complex cognitive tasks. I think it’s great! Finally, the time comes when Man himself, his emotions, motivation and development becomes the main thing in our world.
