Vice President Business Solutions (P&C) – Toronto, Canada. As a member of the Canadian Leadership Team, contribute to forming, supporting and implementing the business strategy

Location:  Toronto, Ontario (5-10 minute walk from Union Station)

Salary:  The salary range is up to $180,000 plus a bonus target of 15% to a maximum of 37% (of base salary) dependent on personal and company performance.

Reports to:  Chief Executive Officer

Purpose of Position:

Lead and manage the organization in its use of enabling tools and technology to support business goals and objectives by managing infrastructure, information security, business applications, recovery and response plans and the Project Management Office to meet the current and future demands of the Business.

  • Internal: Steering Committee, Business Division Leaders, End Users, Internal and Colleagues UK Group
  • External: Vendors, Solution Providers

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization in defining strategies to ensure the effective use of tools and technology, using appropriate techniques such as strategic planning, demand management, continuous improvement tools, cost benefit analysis and budgeting.
  • Conduct sequential reviews of business process across all disciplines to ensure standard best processes are in place that maximize use of skilled resources.
  • Manage the Project Management Office: Lead projects within a defined area of authority by effectively planning and monitoring the work of the project teams.
  • Plan, monitor, control and coordinate all application system development within the Canadian operation and ensure systems meet functional business requirements, meet performance objectives and provide value to the branch.
  • Keep abreast of new technology, and proactively advise business leaders with advice which will enable them to select appropriate technology and/or other solutions.
  • Establish internal and external standards to meet legislative and risk tolerance requirements including standards for audit, data management and safety-related standards including policy development and annual review as well as change management procedures.
  • Create and manage the annual budget/plan for infrastructure, application development and support, hardware and software licenses and agreements. Ensure plan includes all components required to delivery on business strategy as well as support day to day operations.

  • Manage and ensure Business Continuity Plans are delivered, maintained and tested for all business units and regions ensuring appropriate data security systems and procedures are in place to recover all relevant EIO computer systems in the required timescales, as agreed by the Management team.
  • Manage and ensure Cyber Incident Response plans are agreed and maintained both internally and with service providers.
  • Manage the relationships and agreements with all 3rd-party suppliers, ensuring the appropriate controls, support and service levels are in place and managed.
  • Responsible for due diligence when selecting new service providers or extending agreements and contracts.
  • Select and purchase the appropriate computer hardware and software as required and maintain the asset registry.
  • Provide technical support to business users for all hardware, networks and communications (both data and voice).
  • Ensure appropriate change management procedures are in place for all systems and infrastructure change.
  • Schedule annual external reviews of the environment as well as complete self and Group assessments, maintain a log of deficiencies and address gaps on a priority basis.
  • Review and process SOWs and invoices.
  • Chair the Steering Committee and the Change Board.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute to the business strategy.

Vice President Business Solutions. Skills, Education, Knowledge and Experience:

  • University Degree preferred with a focus on business administration and /or Information technology management
  • Previous experience in team and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with and among external suppliers, vendors and service providers
  • Experience developing and supporting business applications through a variety of development and change management methodologies
  • Competency in the use of process optimization tools such as Lean Sigma
  • Demonstrated experience managing Infrastructure, Security, Business Continuity and Cyber Incident response

Vice President Business Solutions

  • Experience developing and implementing strategies and functions including network design and capacity planning
  • Experience developing and maintaining policies and procedures around data security and risk management
  • A good understanding of P&C insurance and associated processes
  • Ability to produce and manage annual budget/plan.
  • Ability to select appropriate 3rd party partners to deliver solutions and perform due diligence
  • Working knowledge of Commercial P&C insurance coverages, processes and key metrics
  • Previous experience as part of a senior leadership team
