FlexJobs, a website that posts such work – and charges an access fee for the listed positions – releases its annual list of the top 100 companies with the highest number of part-time or fully remote job postings from 2018 out of 51,000 companies.
The top career fields offering this kind of work are computer/IT, medical/health, sales, education/training and customer services.
Remote jobs in sales are increasing ; the sector outstripped education as the third most represented career field for the first time ever, with companies like Hibu, Enterprise Holdings and Philips .
“The remote job market often mirrors the wider job market as a whole, which is why we see fields like medical and health, and computer and IT with the most remote jobs,” said Brie Reynolds, Senior Career Specialist at FlexJobs.
“They’re some of the top fields for jobs in general, and they tend to hire for roles that translate well into a remote environment, where work is done largely on computers, phone, and email.”

Five of the most popular work-from-home job titles include accountant, engineer, teacher, writer and consultant. Some of the fastest-growing remote career categories include math/economics, insurance and nonprofit/philanthropy.

“As we saw in the latter part of 2018, we expect 2019 to continue to be a job seeker’s market where companies will need to offer flexible/remote benefits to remain competitive and attract and retain the best talent,” said Sara Sutton, founder and CEO of FlexJobs.
“As this list demonstrates, companies of all sizes and across all industries can adopt work-from-home and flexible work policies to meet the changing demands of the workforce,” Sutton concluded.

The number one spot on the list went to Appen, a technology services company headquartered in Australia. Amazon, VIPKID and UnitedHealth Group UNH +0% were among the top ten companies offering the highest number of remote jobs posted in 2018.
Newcomers to the list include Cisco, Abbott, and Sanofi , joining 2018 alumni like PRA Health Services, Toyota and Williams-Sonoma.
Xerox XRX +0%, CVS Health, Salesforce, ADP,American Express AXP +0% and Humana are among the 26 companies that have been ranked every year since the list’s inception six years ago.
